Islay, a small Scottish island but of great importance for lovers of peated Single Malts, is often nicknamed the Queen of the Hebrides. This enchanted place, where whisky is the undisputed protagonist, extends for about 25 km in length and less than 40 km in width, hosting eight distilleries, so much so that it is jokingly called a floating distillery. Among these, Caol Ila, whose Gaelic name means "the Sound of Islay", was founded in 1846 in a picturesque bay near Port Askaig. Thanks to its location, it is considered one of the most fascinating distilleries in all of Scotland. Caol Ila is famous worldwide for its Single Malts characterized by smoky and marine aromas, distinctive for the use of peat rich in iodine.
