Solaia 2001 is one of the most extraordinary expressions of Tuscany and one of the most famous Supertuscans in the world. Born from the combination of Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), Sangiovese (20%) and Cabernet Franc (5%) , this wine represents the excellence of the Antinori family's production.
The 2001 vintage is considered one of the best for Solaia , thanks to ideal climatic conditions that allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes. The vines, grown in the vineyards located in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in the heart of Chianti Classico , benefit from a soil rich in limestone and galestro, which gives the wine an extraordinary freshness and minerality .
After meticulous vinification, the 2001 Solaia was aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barriques and further in bottle, developing complexity, balance and extraordinary longevity .
